EAR WAVE EVENT wants your music!

None of the music on this website exists. But don't you wish it did? The reviews that make up this preview of EAR WAVE EVENT were created by a neural network fed and trained on contemporary music press. Inverting the normal flow of music criticism, we invite artists to use these reviews prescriptively - to create realizations of musics 'imagined' by a prosthetic mind.

Please send submissions by January 22nd, 2020.

After February 3rd, 2020, EAR WAVE EVENT Issue 5, a complete 'music magazine,' will be released with YOUR audio.

The Hoilies
Presenting The Hoilies

This is the first record by this Melbourne trio, who write tracks using samples from local educational radio station K-12 in the US. The results have a strange, almost haphazard quality, like a reader cutting and pasting a bunch of random school children's voices into a playlist for later. The Hoilies is almost like a jazz punk band, with slightly more textual diversity. The two compositions I hear most often – "Buck Shoe", which sounds like a sped-up Brian Wilson, and "Old Time Quarters", which sounds like a Miles Davis orchestra – have a highly atmospheric quality. Not quite ambient, but definitely moving.
