EAR WAVE EVENT wants your music!

None of the music on this website exists. But don't you wish it did? The reviews that make up this preview of EAR WAVE EVENT were created by a neural network fed and trained on contemporary music press. Inverting the normal flow of music criticism, we invite artists to use these reviews prescriptively - to create realizations of musics 'imagined' by a prosthetic mind.

Please send submissions by January 22nd, 2020.

After February 3rd, 2020, EAR WAVE EVENT Issue 5, a complete 'music magazine,' will be released with YOUR audio.

Dull Beauty
Sound of Silence

Dull Beauty's sound is often described as ambient, but this is a gas. That said, the songs here are often like that, and there’s a lot to unpack here. “Wovenik” is a minimal ambient song, with a few acoustic guitar touches, stretched over a zone of echoing overtones. As the song progresses, the free-jazz guitar and organ noises grow more pronounced, as if the band have spent years composing this. It’s a fitting contrast to the album’s series of instrumental tracks, which are equally sparse and rich with textures, and the album’s finale, a harrowing dub of “The Slime and The Void”, is a breathtaking sonic change.
