EAR WAVE EVENT wants your music!

None of the music on this website exists. But don't you wish it did? The reviews that make up this preview of EAR WAVE EVENT were created by a neural network fed and trained on contemporary music press. Inverting the normal flow of music criticism, we invite artists to use these reviews prescriptively - to create realizations of musics 'imagined' by a prosthetic mind.

Please send submissions by January 22nd, 2020.

After February 3rd, 2020, EAR WAVE EVENT Issue 5, a complete 'music magazine,' will be released with YOUR audio.

Ventures
Glitter

Ventures are a London based collective that combine the sounds of a wide range of contemporary dance music. The first release is a collaboration between film director Spike Lee and drum machine bassist Tim Ainsley, whose sound is heavily influenced by the sounds of techno. The pair play a pair of overlapping instruments, each playing a different track.

In the case of Lee’s “Shangri La” track, a single drum machine is turned into a trio with at least four other drummers. The effect is smooth and bouncy, with the three players shuffling around the mix and the drums just barely managing to stay in sync. Ainsley’s drumming is presented as a bass-heavy but not really heavy groove, with a very distinct sound and feel, as if the players are just resting their heads on the machine’s rhythm.
