EAR WAVE EVENT wants your music!

None of the music on this website exists. But don't you wish it did? The reviews that make up this preview of EAR WAVE EVENT were created by a neural network fed and trained on contemporary music press. Inverting the normal flow of music criticism, we invite artists to use these reviews prescriptively - to create realizations of musics 'imagined' by a prosthetic mind.

Please send submissions by January 22nd, 2020.

After February 3rd, 2020, EAR WAVE EVENT Issue 5, a complete 'music magazine,' will be released with YOUR audio.

The Gracious Cycle
A Song In The Key Of Dixie

Once again there is a special mention of the Gracious Cycle here. It is the third album by this solo project by Pittsburgh based musician/composer Alex Kreis, also known as L.R.I.S.T.H.T.E.N.Y.. The idea is to transform traditional compositions (or at least the versions they are commonly given) into audio music. Kreis does this using a handful of effects and the option of a larger ensemble. The results are pretty stunning. He has a dense bass sound that is complemented by a slow drum machine and offers a cool range of sounds. The textures of a traditional Irish song are manipulated and flattened into a lush sound that is slightly different to the one you hear in the video. Kreis uses the time signatures of U2, Prince and the Beatles to create a space of time and space. Sometimes the layers are quite subtle to the point where you may not even notice them. The second side is a re-edit of the first side and is a fine piece of work by Kreis.
