EAR WAVE EVENT wants your music!

None of the music on this website exists. But don't you wish it did? The reviews that make up this preview of EAR WAVE EVENT were created by a neural network fed and trained on contemporary music press. Inverting the normal flow of music criticism, we invite artists to use these reviews prescriptively - to create realizations of musics 'imagined' by a prosthetic mind.

Please send submissions by January 22nd, 2020.

After February 3rd, 2020, EAR WAVE EVENT Issue 5, a complete 'music magazine,' will be released with YOUR audio.

Gemini
Gemini

Gemini is a year-long project by Montreal based producer Tav Anderson and his partner Ava Wade. The duo collaborated on a few singles before opting for the full-length. As stated on their site, the material is "more ambient and minimal than you’d expect from a producer with 'no musical training'". There’s also a slight touch of synth noise to the proceedings. The music is similar enough to get the gist of it, but the way it’s presented can be confusing. On the first side, we’re presented with static electric guitar and samples of samples of strings. “Fluid” then shifts into a heavily processed atmosphere, but the guitar and drum sets the stage for a different kind of drone. “Into The Ark” is about the story of Léonore Boulanger, an explorer who worked with the polar explorer Archibald Day. There’s a kind of leftfield storytelling going on here, which is fine in itself, but it’s a little too comfortable. There’s a good amount of repetition, but it’s handled with a certain naïveté, as if it was totally natural. Not a bad combination for a year-long release!
