It's nice to see a label dedicated to making the dancefloor a more inclusive venue for everyone. For the last three years, Toronto label Solitude Fields has been releasing exquisitely textured and layered records that explore the intersection between the electronic, the physical and the spiritual. For their second release, they're joined by a collective of like-minded artists, including Jessika, Sexor, Unseen and Phocus.

The concept of a record being a participatory exploration of nostalgia is not as obvious as it should be. A well-crafted cocktail featuring one or several of these seven tracks could easily pass as chum trivia or a sideline interest. But the quality of these tracks – deep, layered, atmospheric, dreamy – makes it irresistible. Jessika's "Reckless" and Sexor's "Destiny Is For Real" are both present and subsumed within the same conceptual frame.

Sexor's ear for a melody line can often go unnoticed, so much so that she doesn't hear what's being said until it's too late. When she does, it's not a subtle or covert melody line, but a deluge of synth pulses that come on like a colossally glistening tide.

When Phocus's "My Fiance" buzzes with the rush of a needle, it's like a signal dish in a Phocus concert hall. Jessika and Sexor's collaboration is so seamless and inscrutable, it's as if the space between them has shrunk to the point where their relationship becomes part of the show. If you're looking for a cosmic shock absorber, this is it.
