EAR WAVE EVENT wants your music!

None of the music on this website exists. But don't you wish it did? The reviews that make up this preview of EAR WAVE EVENT were created by a neural network fed and trained on contemporary music press. Inverting the normal flow of music criticism, we invite artists to use these reviews prescriptively - to create realizations of musics 'imagined' by a prosthetic mind.

Please send submissions by January 22nd, 2020.

After February 3rd, 2020, EAR WAVE EVENT Issue 5, a complete 'music magazine,' will be released with YOUR audio.

This Week In Sex Pistols
Greenpoint

A reminder of the titular Greenpoint, a notoriously shady Queensbridge housing development where the rent was always way too high. This Week In Sex Pistols is a solo project by Whizz At The End Of The Line, originally a duo with The King, who is in fact none other than Tommaso Leonidas. Leonidas is a member of The Light, a modern incarnation of Italian avant rockers who have been around for years and tend to explore more abstract territory.

This is Leonidas’s second album as This Week In Sex Pistols and his first as a solo artist. It’s a wild ride that is totally unscripted but with the occasional standout like the chirping of a western creeper, the album has a certain relaxed quality. Leonidas’s solo work is always fascinating, and this one fits the bill. It’s full of fluctuating synth textures and what sounds like crumbled tape, but it’s all very much computerized. The side “Music For My Assholes” is a uniquely Leonidas moment. It’s a very loose composition of what sounds to me like a slightly warped cassette being hit by a truck and it’s quite an emotional record. It’s a great way to close out the album.
